Early Life and Career
Born in St. Charles, Missouri, Buehrle attended Francis Howell North High School before enrolling at Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Missouri. In 1998, he was selected by the Chicago White Sox during the rookie draft, marking the start of his professional career. Prior to joining the White Sox, Buehrle played in various minor league teams for 36 appearances.

Major League Career
Buehrle made his Major League debut on July 16, 2000, pitching one inning against the Milwaukee Brewers. Just three days later, he became a starter in a game against the Minnesota Twins. In 2002, Buehrle was named the best player of the White Sox and in 2005, he was selected for the American League All-Star Team. Due to an injury to Roy Halladay, Buehrle became a starter for the team.

In 2006, the White Sox signed a contract with Buehrle worth $9.5 million for the 2007 season. On July 5, 2009, Buehrle was chosen to represent Chicago in the All-Star Game. On July 23, 2009, he played a perfect game against the Tampa Bay Rays, becoming the 18th player in the history of Major League Baseball to achieve this feat. This game also marked Buehrle's second no-hitter in his career. He became the 24th player to have multiple no-hitters and the 6th player to have both a perfect game and a no-hitter.

In September 2009, the governor of Illinois, Pat Quinn, declared July 30, 2009, as "Mark Buehrle Day." During a game against the New York Yankees, Buehrle was presented with a commemorative metal plaque to honor the occasion. In the same year, Sporting News awarded Buehrle with the "Performance of the Decade" for his game on July 23.
Buehrle continued to excel in his career and received his first Golden Glove award in November 2009, as well as the Fielding Bible Award from Major League Baseball. In November 2012, he received his second Golden Glove award, making him the only pitcher in MLB history to have multiple no-hitters and multiple Golden Glove awards.
On December 7, 2011, Buehrle agreed to a four-year contract with the Miami Marlins worth $58 million. Known for his precision and accuracy rather than speed, Buehrle's game is characterized as a team effort. Off the field, Buehrle is married and has a son named Braden and a daughter named Brooklyn. He has been a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and is also known for his advocacy for animal rights, as he and his wife have four dogs at home.
