Biography of Mark Derwin
Mark Derwin was born on October 28, 1960, in the small village of Park Forest, located south of Chicago, Illinois. When Mark was very young, his family moved to New York, and his formative years were spent in North Salem, a suburb of New York City.

After graduating from high school, Derwin enrolled at New York University, but he dropped out after only one semester. For the next several years, Mark worked odd jobs in New York, including construction, truck driving, and carpentry. Throughout this time, he dreamed of becoming an actor but had no idea how to make it happen.

In the 1980s, Derwin began attending acting classes led by his friend, actor Michael Liguori. Inspired by these classes, Mark finally made a bold decision and moved to Los Angeles in 1987 to pursue an acting career.

The first year in Los Angeles proved to be a trial for Derwin, as he had to work in telemarketing to pay for his living expenses. However, he eventually landed television commercials, one of which was particularly notable for a Mexican tobacco company called "Fiesta." In this commercial, Mark portrayed a Mexican cowboy Marlboro Man in five different scenarios.

In 1989, Derwin got his breakthrough role as con artist and murderer Adrian Hunter in the daytime soap opera "The Young and the Restless." In 1990, he returned to New York and began appearing in the series "Guiding Light" as Detective Mallet. Over the next few years, Derwin played guest roles in evening dramas and sitcoms such as "Touched by an Angel," "Party of Five," and "Cybill." Around the same time, he also secured a regular role in the sitcom "The Bonnie Hunt Show."
In 1999, Derwin joined the cast of the soap opera "One Life to Live" as Dr. Ben Davidson. This led to more projects, including "Veronica's Closet," "Getting Personal," and "For Your Love." He also had small roles in TV movies and short-lived series like the five-part film "24."
Like many actors, Mark appeared in popular series such as "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and "CSI: Miami." He also had guest appearances in "How I Met Your Mother," the short-lived series "Heist," and had a recurring role as attorney Michael Ivers in "Boston Legal." Additionally, Derwin appeared in shows like "Without a Trace," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Chuck," and "The Secret Life of the American Teenager."
Throughout his career, Mark Derwin has showcased his versatility by portraying a wide range of characters, from doctors and detectives to comedic roles. He has successfully balanced the melodrama of daytime soap operas with subtle humor, gaining attention from a new audience.
