Early Life and Beginnings
Daniel Faid Amidou, better known as Dany Boon, was born in Armentières, France, on June 26, 1966. The son of an Algerian immigrant, Boon grew up with two brothers. After studying graphic arts in Belgium, he moved to Paris at age 23 and began his career as a street mime.

Rise to Theatre Stardom
In the early 1990s, Boon transitioned to theatre, specializing in one-man shows. His sketches, inspired by his own experiences and everyday situations, garnered critical acclaim. He quickly became known for his versatile performances as characters such as a depressed man and a fanatical bodybuilder. Beyond theatre, Boon also ventured into music, animated film voice acting, and foreign film dubbing.
Cinematic Success
Boon made his film debut in the mid-1990s, gravitating towards comedy. Recognition arrived with his supporting role in the 2005 film "Joyeux Noël," which earned him a César Award nomination. In 2006, he made his directorial and screenwriting debut with "House for Sale."
"Welcome to the Sticks": A Blockbuster Phenomenon
Boon's breakthrough came with the 2008 comedy "Welcome to the Sticks." The film became one of the most successful French releases of all time, surpassing even "Titanic" in ticket sales. It earned Boon €26 million, making him the highest-paid actor in France that year.
Filmmaking and Collaborations
In the years that followed, Boon established himself as a multi-hyphenate filmmaker, often writing, directing, and starring in his own projects. He also launched several production companies, enabling him to nurture emerging talent. Among the actors he has cast is Alice Pol, who gained recognition through his film "Supercondriaque."
Personal Life
Boon's personal life has been as eventful as his professional one. He has five children: Mehdi, Noah, Eitan, Elia, and Sarah, from three marriages. His current partner is actress Laurence Arné.
Recent Projects
In 2023, Boon released "Paris: All Inclusive," a comedy in which he once again assumed the roles of lead actor, director, and screenwriter. The film centers on a middle-aged man searching for his long-lost first love, who turns out to be an imposter.
