Mark Gardner was born on September 21, 1955, in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended the University of Lowell, now a campus of the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, from 1973 to 1977, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physics with honors. In 1980, Gardner obtained a Master's degree in physics from the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland.
Career
Gardner has held various positions at companies such as Advanced Micro Devices, Texas Instruments, and Micron. His work has involved microelectronics, semiconductors, transistors, memory devices, and integrated circuits. He has been involved in software development, excelled in instrument engineering, and was familiar with the technology of producing high-k semiconductor devices with subthreshold dielectrics.
Throughout his prolific career as an engineer, inventor, and physicist, Gardner has accumulated 515 patents issued in the United States. In the year 2000 alone, he obtained 160 patents for his inventions, setting a record among other American inventors.
In addition to his main profession, Gardner also serves as a physics professor at the local Austin Community College.
