Biography of Mark Owen
Early Life and CareerMark Owen, born Mark Anthony Patrick Owen, in 1972 in Lancashire, United Kingdom, grew up in a family with two siblings. In his early childhood, like many boys, Mark dreamed of becoming a pilot before developing an interest in football. Little did he know that his true calling was to become a musician. Mark attended St Augustine's Catholic School, where he participated in school theatrical performances. While pursuing his passion for football, Mark even had aspirations of joining the famous football team, Manchester United, but he did not make it onto the roster. Despite his love for football, Mark's life took a dramatic turn.

Formation of 'Take That'
In Manchester, where Mark and his family lived at the time, he met Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams. The trio, all unsure of their future paths (Mark had already switched jobs from working in a boutique to a position at a commercial bank), formed a musical group called 'Cutest Rush.' However, the trio's time together was short-lived. Fortunately, their project caught the attention of producer Nigel Martin Smith, who added Jason Orange and Howard Donald to the group. Together, they formed the incredibly successful collective known as 'Take That' in 1990.

Rise to Fame
'Take That' had an unconventional start, performing in gay clubs. Despite the controversial beginning, the producer's gamble paid off, as the group garnered attention from teenagers. Their first single, released in 1991, accompanied by a video featuring semi-naked musicians, sealed their success. Several record companies competed for a contract with the new group, with RCA Records emerging as the most proactive. By the end of 1991, Take That's debut album had already reached the Top 40 of the UK chart. The group continued to achieve success in the following years, with Mark Owen emerging as the leader, thanks to his appealing sex appeal.
Solo Career and Reunion
In 1996, after releasing five albums and compilations, the group disbanded. Robbie Williams was the first to leave, followed by Mark, as both singers believed they had the potential for successful solo careers. Mark Owen became the first member to release a solo album, 'Green Man,' in the same year, which also made it into the Top 40. The song 'Child' from this album is still considered one of Owen's best songs. Despite the visible success and the ongoing hysteria from devastated teenage fans (a special helpline was even created to provide psychological support to inconsolable fans), Mark Owen soon realized that his solo career was not going as he had hoped.
In 2006, four members of 'Take That' reunited, and their single 'Patience' topped the charts for four weeks. In early 2007, their single 'Shine' exploded on the British charts. In May 2008, the group won the 'Best Song Performance' category at the Ivor Novello Awards for the same single. Since 2006, Mark Owen has been engaged to his childhood girlfriend, Emma Ferguson. They finally got married on November 8, 2009, in Scotland, already having two children together.
