Early Career and SuccessMarkis Kido, the Indonesian badminton legend, rose to prominence in the mid-2000s. Partnering with Hendra Setiawan, Kido captured the 2005 Asian Badminton Championships and Indonesian Open men's doubles titles. Their success continued in 2006 with victories at the Djarum Superliga, Hong Kong Open, and China Open.

In 2007, Kido and Setiawan reached the pinnacle of their careers, becoming world champions. In a thrilling final match, they defeated Korean duo Choong Ju Sung and Yoo Young Dae in straight sets. This victory solidified their status as the world's top-ranked doubles pair.

Kido's greatest triumph came at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Alongside Setiawan, he captured the gold medal in men's doubles, defeating Chinese pair Fu Haifeng and Cai Yun. This victory marked a historic moment for Indonesian badminton, as it was the country's first Olympic gold medal in the sport.
