Martin Braithwaite: The Danish Hitman
Early Career at EsbjergBorn in Esbjerg, Denmark, Martin Braithwaite began his footballing journey with his hometown club, Esbjerg fB. He made his Danish Superliga debut on October 4, 2009, against FC Copenhagen. After Esbjerg's relegation in 2011, Braithwaite helped them regain promotion the following year. He scored his first goal in the top flight on August 26, 2012, against Brondby IF. In 2013, he contributed to Esbjerg's Danish Cup triumph.
Transfer to Toulouse
In the summer of 2013, Braithwaite signed a two-million-euro deal to join Toulouse in France's Ligue 1. He made his debut on August 23 against AS Monaco and scored his first goal for the club on August 31 against SC Bastia.
Championship Stint with Middlesbrough
On July 13, 2017, Braithwaite joined English Championship side Middlesbrough for a £9 million fee. He debuted on August 5 in their season opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers. On September 30, he scored his first goal for Middlesbrough in a 2-2 draw with Brentford.
Loan to Bordeaux
On January 31, 2018, Braithwaite went on loan to Bordeaux until the end of the season. He made his debut against RC Strasbourg on February 3.
International Career
Braithwaite has represented Denmark at various youth levels since 2008. Despite being approached by Guyana, his father's home country, he opted to play for Denmark's senior team. He made his international debut on June 5, 2013, in a friendly against Georgia. On August 14, he scored his first goal for Denmark against Poland.
