Martin Beck's exceptional talents were discovered when she was still in school. In the fourth grade, she excelled in ski races, defeating competitors three years older and of the opposite gender. Despite her petite stature, standing at only 1.58 meters, Beck displayed remarkable athletic abilities, particularly in skiing and shooting. Her exceptional marksmanship became the key to her success, consistently ranking her as one of the most accurate athletes. In the 2003-2004 season, her shooting accuracy reached an impressive 89 percent.

In 2000, Martin Beck joined the German national team for the Biathlon World Cup. On her debut, she achieved victory in one of the events in her age group and came in third in the mass start competition. In 2002, Beck became the first German biathlete to win a women's event in the Biathlon World Cup, securing victory in the pursuit race. The 2002-2003 season marked a turning point in her career as she continued to achieve remarkable victories, breaking the previous trend of German biathletes failing to win in the competition. Throughout her career, Beck won a total of 12 individual disciplines in the Biathlon World Cup, with her most successful season being 2007-2008, where she became the top biathlete in the overall standings.
