Early Life and Education

Martina Dalić was born in Velika Gorica, Croatia. She graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Zagreb in 1990 and obtained her master's degree in 1994. In 2012, she earned her doctorate from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Split.

Career in Government

After graduating, Dalić worked as an assistant at the Department of Organization and Management at her alma mater. In 1995, she joined the Croatian Ministry of Finance as Head of the Macroeconomic Forecasting Department. In 1997, she became an assistant to the Minister of Finance, handling macroeconomic analysis and forecasts.

In 2000, Dalić left government service to work as chief economist at PBZ (Privredna banka Zagreb) when her party, the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), lost power. She returned to the Ministry of Finance in 2004 as state secretary after the HDZ regained power.

From 2005 to 2012, Dalić was a member of Croatia's EU accession negotiation team, serving as deputy chairman from 2005 to 2008. She was responsible for negotiations on taxation, customs union, financial and budgetary provisions, and financial control.

Minister of Finance

In late 2010, Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor reshuffled her cabinet and dismissed Finance Minister Ivan Šuker. Martina Dalić took over his duties and held the position until December 2011.

Member of Parliament and Resignation from HDZ

In the 2011 parliamentary elections, Dalić was elected to parliament on the HDZ list for the 7th electoral district. On September 22, 2014, she left the HDZ, believing it could not save Croatia from the crisis that had gripped the country since 2009.

Return to Government

In 2016, Dalić resumed working with her former colleagues. That October, HDZ leader Andrej Plenković appointed her Minister of Economy, Labor, and Entrepreneurship and Deputy Prime Minister as part of his government team.

Personal Life

Martina Dalić is married and has two children. She is fluent in English.
