Japanese Racing Driver Fails to Secure Formula 1 Debut

Despite his aspirations, Japanese racing driver failed to secure a starting position in the Formula 1 World Championship.

Unsuccessful Sponsorship Deal

In 1976, Kuwasima attempted to participate in the Japanese Grand Prix for the RAM team. However, the deal fell through, leaving him without a ride.

Brief Involvement with Wolf / Williams

He later found a spot with the Wolf / Williams team, driving the Wolf-Williams FW05. Kuwasima participated in the first practice session but posted underwhelming lap times.

Sponsorship Woes and Replacement

Unfortunately, Kuwasima's sponsors failed to provide the necessary funds the following day. As a result, team owner Frank Williams promptly replaced him with Hans Binder for the second practice session and the race.

Return to Japanese Formula 2

With his Formula 1 dreams dashed, Kuwasima returned to the Japanese Formula 2 series, where he remained for the rest of his racing career.
