Biography of Matt Busby

Matt Busby (1909-1994) was a renowned English football coach whose entire life was associated with Manchester United. After the tragic plane crash in 1958, in which the entire team perished except for him and the miraculously surviving players Bill Foulkes and Bobby Charlton, Busby vowed to revive the team and make it the best in Europe. In 1968, Manchester United won the European Cup under his leadership. As a tribute to the great coach, a bronze sculpture was erected at the entrance of the "Old Trafford" stadium in 1996.
