Matthias recalls that his first match took place in a bar in his hometown, and from that moment on, his brilliant career as an arm wrestler began. Surprisingly, Matthias found it quite easy to secure his victory. At that time, he had no knowledge of arm wrestling techniques or experience. However, he started training vigorously and, at the age of 18, competed in the national German championship.

Thanks to the sport, he has had the opportunity to travel to at least thirty countries, meet many fascinating people, and find true friends. Today, he only recalls how, as a teenager, he suffered because of his huge right arm, which made him different from his peers. The day he participated in his first match on February 7, 2004, was like a second birthday for him. He also remembers how, at the age of 16 and weighing only 65 kilograms, he competed against adult men weighing 90 kilograms. Initially, they would laugh at the audacious teenager, but later they would respect him.
Matthias trains every day, never allowing himself to skip a session. For the past ten years, he has primarily focused on arm wrestling, with only a short break when he needed to obtain his high school diploma. In the world of arm wrestling, Matthias Schlitte is known as Hellboy, a nickname he finds appealing because he is not like everyone else. Indeed, no one else in the world has a right arm like his, and it has already brought him numerous titles and victories. Matthias has won over a dozen world championships and a similar number of competitions in Germany.
Criticism and Perspective
Due to his unusual appearance, Matthias faces criticism. Many envy him for competing in the lightweight category while possessing an arm that could rival athletes in the heaviest weight classes. However, whether to develop the rest of his body and move to another weight category is a sporting question. Matthias has found success in his current category, and his abnormally large arm is not prohibited by the rules.
