Mattia Vita: A Racing Prodigy
Mattia Vita, an Italian rally and circuit racer, began his automotive odyssey in 2003 under the shadow of his father, Gianluca Vita, the 2000 European Rally Champion.
Karting Career (2003-2017)
Mattia's first triumph came in 2008 when he clinched the Euro Trophy in the 60 Mini karting category and secured a notable second place in the Italian Championship. In 2011, he graced the CIK-FIA Karting World Championship under the KF3 division. His hopes for a podium finish were dashed after a fateful collision with Esteban Ocon on the final lap, ultimately relegating him to seventh place.
Formula Racing (2013-2014)
Venturing beyond karting, Mattia debuted on open-wheel circuits in the European F3 Open Championship in 2013 with TopF3. Despite budget obstacles limiting his participation to three rounds, he showcased his prowess with two top-ten finishes. Later that year, he raced in a round of Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 with RC Formula. In 2014, Jeff Andretti invited Mattia to the United States for a Formula Car Challenge event in Sonoma, California, on a PRO Mazda car, where he earned a podium spot.
Rallying Stint (2016-Present)
Since 2016, Mattia has devoted his efforts to rally racing, competing in the Italian Rally Championship and regional events. In 2017, he finished an impressive sixth among juniors in the Italian Rally Championship and attained third position in the Peugeot Competition Top 208.
In 2018, Mattia embarked on six rounds of the European Rally Championship in a Peugeot 208 R2. After overcoming two retirements due to mechanical failures, he emerged with a credible fifth place in Junior U27, level on points with the fourth-place driver. He also secured a commendable sixth place in the ERC 3 category.
Mattia's rally campaign continued in 2019 with a third-place finish at the Rallye Sanremo in the Junior category, followed by a fourth-place showing at the Rally Adriatico.
