Early Career

Maureen started her career at L'Oreal in Paris, but shortly after, she joined forces with Gap in 1988 as a merchandiser. She later promoted the Old Navy line, which led to the brand being sold in 850 stores and boutiques. Prior to her arrival, Gap had only 35 contracts with stores and boutiques. Her fifteen years at Gap were a mutual exchange of experience and accomplishments.

Success at Banana Republic

Maureen Chiquet's next success came as the president of Banana Republic in 2002. She became a businesswoman known for her beauty, elegance, and determination. After her departure from Gap, the company's president, Paul Pressler, said, "Although we deeply regret her departure, we respect her decision. Maureen has every chance to leave her legendary mark in the history of fashion, and we wish her the best of luck."

Leading Chanel

Chanel, a brand known for its elegance and taste, has been at the forefront of fashion since its establishment in 1910. Chanel SA, a luxury goods company, appointed Maureen Chiquet as its CEO. Despite her lack of experience in this field of business, she quickly became a leader in understanding and promoting the brand's unique offerings.

Continuing Legacy

Maureen Chiquet started working at Chanel in 2003 and currently holds the position of President and CEO. She was appointed to this role in the spring of 2003, replacing Ari Kopelman, who resigned as President but continues to work in the company as Vice President. The company, founded by Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel, creates elegant perfumes, clothing, and accessories. It has been owned by the Wertheimer family since 1983, with Karl Lagerfeld serving as the company's designer.
