Biography of Mauricio Ibinarriaga

Mauricio Ibinarriaga is a Mexican fashion designer and marketing specialist, as well as an entrepreneur. He is one of the founders and leaders of the fashion label 'Cubo'.

Transition to Fashion Design

Mauricio initially pursued a career in marketing and publishing before entering the world of fashion design. It was his encounter with Eduardo Trevico, an experienced fashion designer at the time, that changed everything. Trevico had just returned from a two-year creative sabbatical and was determined to "get back in shape." His meeting with Ibinarriaga provided him with the necessary impetus to launch a new project.

The Birth of 'Trend' and 'Cubo'

The initial joint project between Ibinarriaga and Trevico was focused on swimwear, but later expanded to include a wide range of clothing lines for both men and women. In 2005, they opened their own store, named 'Trend,' to promote their collaborative project, the fashion label 'Cubo.' Alongside developing their own clothing lines, they also worked to popularize other fashion designers such as Regina Reyna, Roberto Villarreal, and Laura Carrillo.

Ongoing Success and Innovations

Trevico and Ibinarriaga continue to drive the growth of their label, constantly pushing boundaries and exploring new sources of inspiration. They launched a line of men's swimwear called 'SITGES' shortly after starting 'Trend.' For their collections, the designers draw inspiration from various sources. For example, in the fall-winter season of 2011, they released a 'Roman Catholic' collection consisting of cotton and silk garments with a 'church' aesthetic, inspired by the attire of religious figures.

In March 2013, they presented another successful experiment, drawing inspiration from metals and minerals. The new stylish garments were adorned with golden, silver, and copper tones. They also venture into designing women's fashion, with the 'Metals and Minerals' collection featuring narrow dresses, high-waisted trousers, and stylish knitted sweaters.
