Biography of Max Mirnyi
Max Mirnyi is a Belarusian professional tennis player who was formerly ranked as the number one doubles player in the world. He was born on July 6, 1977, in Minsk, Belarus. Mirnyi had a highly successful career, with numerous accolades and achievements to his name.

Early Life and Family
Mirnyi is the eldest son of Nikolay and Tatiana Mirnyi, and he has a younger brother named Petr. His father was a volleyball player in the elite division of the Soviet Union championship in the 1960s, while his mother was a former sprint swimmer who set a record for the Belarusian SSR in the 200-meter butterfly in 1971.
Tennis Career
Mirnyi started playing tennis at the age of seven and his father has been one of his coaches since the beginning. Throughout his career, Mirnyi was known for his powerful serve and athleticism, which made him particularly dangerous on fast surfaces. He was one of the few players in the early 21st century who played in a serve-and-volley style. Mirnyi's strong serve, flexibility, excellent reflexes, and net play made him one of the best doubles players of his time.
Although Mirnyi's achievements in singles were relatively modest, with only one title and three runner-up finishes, he had notable victories over players who were ranked number one in the world at various times, including Marat Safin, Gustavo Kuerten, Roger Federer, Lleyton Hewitt, and Pete Sampras.
In doubles, Mirnyi had an incredibly successful career. He won 10 Grand Slam titles in doubles and mixed doubles, and he was a two-time champion at the ATP Finals in doubles. He also won 53 ATP tournaments in total, including one in singles. Mirnyi achieved the pinnacle of his career in 2012 when he won the Olympic gold medal in mixed doubles at the London Games.
Retirement and Coaching Career
On November 29, 2018, Mirnyi announced his retirement from professional tennis. However, he continued to contribute to the sport as a coach. On November 30, 2019, Mirnyi announced his collaboration with Kei Nishikori, and he also served as the captain of the Japanese national team at the ATP Cup in 2021, becoming the first foreign captain in the tournament's two-year history.
Outside of Tennis
In addition to his tennis career, Mirnyi has been involved in several non-sporting projects. He opened his own pizzeria in Bradenton, Florida, near a local tennis center, and a sports center in Minsk with tennis courts, a fitness club, and beauty treatment rooms.
