Maximiliano Gómez, born on August 14, 1996, in Paysandú, Uruguay, is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays as a forward for the Spanish club Celta de Vigo and the Uruguay national team.

Early Career: Defensor Sporting

Gómez began his football career with the youth academy of Defensor Sporting in Montevideo, Uruguay. On October 4, 2015, he made his Uruguayan Primera División debut in a match against Nacional, coming on as a substitute for Facundo Castro in the second half. On October 17, he scored his first goal for Defensor in a match against Montevideo Wanderers. In his first seven matches for the club, Gómez scored five goals.

Move to Celta de Vigo

In the summer of 2017, Gómez transferred to Spanish club Celta de Vigo, signing a five-year contract for a reported fee of €4 million. He made his La Liga debut in a match against Real Sociedad. In that match, Gómez scored a brace, marking his first goals for Celta.
