Mayuyu Watanabe: A Rising Star in Japanese Pop
Early Life and AKB48Mayuyu Watanabe was born on March 26, 1994, in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. She joined AKB48 as part of Team B in December 2006 and was transferred to Team A on August 24, 2012. She returned to Team B on February 24, 2014.
Music Career
Watanabe has been featured on the title tracks of all AKB48 singles since the release of "BINGO!" in 2007. She ranked 4th in the first AKB48 Senbatsu General Election in 2009 and has consistently placed in the top 5 in subsequent elections.
In 2009, she joined the unit Watarirouka Hashiritai, which released four singles and one album. From 2010 to 2012, she was also part of the unit Watarirouka Hashiritai 7.
Solo Career
Watanabe released her first solo single, "Synchro Tokimeki," in 2012, followed by "Otona Jelly Beans" and "Hikaru Monotachi" later that year. In 2013, she released her fourth single, "Rappa Renshuu-Chuu."
Acting and Modeling
Watanabe has appeared in several dramas, including "Majisuka Gakuen" (2010-2011) and "Saba Doru" (2012). She has also starred in the films "Three-Day Boys" (2009) and "Fortune Cookies" (2013).
In addition to her music and acting career, Watanabe has released two photobooks, "Mayuyu" (2011) and "Seifuku Zukan Saigo no Seifuku" (2013).
Recent Activities and Recognition
In 2013, Watanabe was selected as the center for AKB48's 31st single, "So Long!" She also appeared as a guest on the variety show "Running Man" in 2014.
Watanabe has been recognized for her talent and popularity, winning several awards, including the "Rookie of the Year" award at the 2010 Japan Academy Awards and the "Best Japanese Artist" award at the 2013 MTV Europe Music Awards.
