Biography of Meg Cabot
Meggin Patricia Cabot, better known as Meg Cabot, is an American writer and the author of numerous series of romantic and fantastic novels for children and adults. She was born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana. Before attending university, Cabot had the opportunity to live in Grenoble, France, and Carmel, California. She later earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Indiana University and moved to New York City.

Initially, Cabot considered pursuing a career as an illustrator but decided to work as an assistant residence hall director at New York University. On April 1, 1993, she married writer and poet Benjamin D. Egnatz. The couple chose to get married on April Fool's Day because, according to the groom, only fools get married. After their wedding, they traveled to Italy, which later inspired one of Cabot's books.

After gaining valuable experience as an assistant residence hall director, Cabot began her writing career. Her first series, "The Princess Diaries," became a huge success. To date, more than 20 million copies of books from this series have been sold, and the series has been translated into 38 languages. It also served as the basis for two successful Disney movies.

In October 2000, Cabot released the first book in her new series, "The Mediator." This series tells the story of a 16-year-old girl who helps ghosts resolve their unfinished business. Similarly, her next series, "1-800-WHERE-R-YOU," follows a 16-year-old girl who gains the ability to find missing children after being struck by lightning. The first four books in this series were published under the pseudonym Jenny Carroll but were not successful. The series was later relaunched in 2004 under Cabot's real name.
Throughout her career, Cabot has published over 50 books, both series and standalone novels, and continues to write actively. She has received numerous literary awards for her work. In addition to her writing, Cabot regularly collaborates with major charitable foundations and projects, providing support and education to children in need. She has worked closely with the "Make-a-Wish" and "Starlight Children's" foundations to help terminally ill children. In March 2012, she also raised funds for tornado victims in Indiana.
Furthermore, Cabot has used her books to contribute to charitable causes. For example, her book "Ransom My Heart" was published on recycled paper, and all proceeds from its sales were donated to Greenpeace, both by Cabot personally and by publishers in eight countries.
