Megha Mittal: Indian Businesswoman and Fashion Icon

Megha Mittal is an Indian entrepreneur who holds the positions of Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer at the German fashion brand Escada. She has played a significant role in reinvigorating the brand and expanding its reach globally.

Education and Early Career

Mittal completed her Bachelor of Science in Economics with a specialization in Finance from the Wharton School of Business in 1997. Subsequently, she joined Goldman Sachs as an analyst in their research division. In 2003, Mittal pursued a course in interior design at the Inchbald School of Design.

Acquisition of Escada

In November 2009, Mittal acquired Escada, a fashion brand that had declared bankruptcy in August of that year. The purchase was viewed as a strategic move to revive the struggling brand and redefine its positioning in the market.

Personal Life and Philanthropy

Megha Mittal is married to Aditya Mittal, the Chief Financial Officer of ArcelorMittal. They met during their time at business school in the United States and currently reside in London with their two young daughters. In 2008, the couple made a significant donation of £15 million to the Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. The donation led to the creation of the Mittal Children's Medical Centre.

Rebranding of Escada

Under Mittal's leadership, Escada shifted its focus from catering exclusively to high-end consumers to targeting a broader middle-class market. This strategic repositioning aimed to increase sales and restore the brand's financial health.
