Biography of Mehdi Abbasov

Mehdi Yusef oglu Abbasov was an Azerbaijani police officer, senior lieutenant, and National Hero of Azerbaijan. He was born on January 1, 1960, in the Amasya district of the Armenian SSR.

Career in Law Enforcement

On June 28, 1991, Abbasov began working in the law enforcement agencies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where he rose to the rank of senior lieutenant. He was known for his dedication and achievements, earning him the nickname "Mikhailo." Abbasov was awarded the Ministry of Internal Affairs prize for his outstanding service.

Last Battle and Sacrifice

On January 13, 1992, during the battles for the Malajgan post in the Nagorno-Karabakh War, Abbasov participated in his final battle. Unfortunately, he was shot in the head and succumbed to his wounds. At the time of his death, he was unmarried.

National Hero of Azerbaijan

By the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, #831, issued on June 6, 1992, Mehdi Yusef oglu Abbasov was posthumously awarded the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan. He was laid to rest at the Alley of Martyrs in Baku, a place of commemoration for national heroes and martyrs.
