Melissa Sue Anderson is an American-Canadian actress best known for her role as Mary Ingalls in the television series 'Little House on the Prairie' and several other film roles. She began her acting career at a young age, with her parents persuading her to find a dance teacher. Anderson initially appeared in television commercials and gradually started receiving more significant roles. One of her notable roles was in the popular series 'The Brady Bunch'.

Role in 'Little House on the Prairie'
At the age of 11, Anderson landed one of her most famous roles, playing Mary Ingalls in 'Little House on the Prairie'. Securing the role was no easy feat, as Anderson had to compete against several hundred other actresses. However, she emerged as the best among the best and dedicatedly portrayed the character for the next eight years.

Recognition and Awards
In 1976, Michael Landon invited Melissa Sue Anderson to star in his autobiographical film 'The Loneliest Runner' as Nancy Rizzi, the first girlfriend of John Curtis. Anderson gladly accepted the offer, and her performance earned her a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Best Actress in a Dramatic Series in 1978. She eventually won the Emmy in 1979 for her role in 'Which Mother Is Mine?'. Additionally, Anderson received the 'TP de Oro' award for Best Foreign Actress in 1980 for her role in 'Little House on the Prairie' and a Young Artist Award in 1981 for her role in the Canadian slasher film 'Happy Birthday to Me'.

Melissa Sue Anderson's first well-known romance was with Lorenzo Lamas, whom she met while filming 'The Love Boat'. However, their relationship was short-lived. She then became involved with Frank Sinatra, Jr., who was more than twice her age at the time. Currently, Anderson resides in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with her husband Michael Sloan and their two children.
