Biography of Melrose Bickerstaff
Melrose Bickerstaff, born Melissa Rose Bickerstaff in 1983 in West Bloomfield Township, Michigan, is an American model and fashion designer. Her name was formed from the combination of her parents' chosen names, Melissa and Rose.
Early Life and Education
During her time at West Bloomfield High School, Melrose was highly active, participating in theater productions and even being a member of the ski team. She also developed an interest in fashion and took part in the school's fashion program.
After graduating from high school, Melrose pursued her education at The Art Institute of California, San Francisco, where she obtained a degree in fashion design. It was during her time at the institute that she received the prestigious Fashion Design Award.
Career
By the time Melrose joined the seventh cycle of "America's Next Top Model," she was already working as a clothing designer. Despite not being well-liked by her fellow competitors, Melrose showcased exceptional talent and achieved high scores throughout the show. The competition revolved around securing a contract with the modeling agency "Elite Models," six pages and a cover photo in the fashion magazine "Seventeen," and a $100,000 contract with renowned cosmetics company "Covergirl." Ultimately, Melrose didn't win the competition but managed to secure a place in the top three and reached the final. The third finalist was the dark-skinned beauty, Eugena Washington.
Although Melrose's runway performances were consistently rated higher than the winner, CariDee English, she fell short of clinching the title. Nevertheless, she received promising opportunities after the show, as she had already established herself in the fashion industry. According to E! Online and TMZ.com, Melrose had a brief romance with actor Jeremy Piven. In 2007, she appeared at New York Fashion Week and the GLAAD Media Awards, and in April of the same year, she was seen at New York's Tartan Week. Melrose secured contracts with Bleu Model Management, L.A. Models, and Storm Model Management. In 2008, she made an appearance at London Fashion Week, and currently, Melrose is signed with London-based agency Leni's Model Management.
