Mia Wasikowska, an Australian actress of Polish descent, was born on October 14, 1989, in Canberra. She grew up in Canberra alongside her older sister and younger brother. Her mother, Marzena Wasikowska, is a Polish photographer, and her father, John Reid, is an Australian photographer and collagist. When Mia was 8 years old, her family relocated to Szczecin, Poland.
Early Acting Career
From the age of 8, Mia began studying ballet and dreamed of performing on a big stage. At the age of 15, she received her first invitation to participate in film shoots. She played a role in the Australian crime drama "Suburban Mayhem." In 2007, she was offered roles in the Australian dramas "Rogue" and "The Skin." Shortly after, Mia appeared on the big screen in the thriller "Crocodile" (2007), the drama "September" (2007), the war thriller "Defiance," the series "In Treatment" (2008-2009), and the short film "I Love Sarah Jane" (2008). She later portrayed the character of Elinor Smith in the American drama "Amelia" (2009).
