Victor Burc: Career Highlights
Victor Burc was a prominent Soviet Ukrainian footballer renowned for his exceptional goal-scoring abilities as a goalkeeper.
Early Career and Success
Burc's football journey began with Ukraine's youth teams, where he played a significant role in securing the 1976 "Yunost" Cup. He went on to become the Ukrainian Second League Champion in 1989.
Top-Tier Performances
In the Ukrainian leagues, Burc made a name for himself in the highest echelons. He notched up 45 appearances in the top flight, scoring an impressive 5 goals from the spot. In the first division, he added a further goal from 22 matches.
Record-Breaking Goalkeeper
Burc's unique talents manifested on March 18, 1992, when he netted the sole goal in a match against "Dnipro" from penalty spot, surpassing renowned goalkeeper Valeriy Gorodov. Within weeks, he repeated the feat against "Nivva" and subsequently scored two more penalties against "Metalist." By the end of the season, Burc had emerged as Volyn's top scorer, alongside midfielder Dmytro Topchiev, with four goals.
Later Career and Landmark Goals
Burc continued to find the back of the net in subsequent seasons, scoring from 11-meters against "Kryvbas." He finished his career with an additional 8 goals, playing for "Volyn" and "Sokol" in lower Ukrainian leagues.
Coaching and Legacy
Upon retiring from playing, Burc served as goalkeeping coach for FC Volyn Lutsk, passing on his expertise and contributing to the development of young Ukrainian footballers.
