Michael Che Campbell, known simply as Michael Che, is an American comedian, actor, and writer. He gained prominence for his work on NBC's sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live. Born and raised in Manhattan, Che has made a name for himself through his sharp wit and unique perspective.

Early Life and Career

Che was born on May 15, 1983, as the youngest of seven children. His father named him after the revolutionary Che Guevara. He grew up in the Lower East Side of Manhattan and attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. After briefly working in customer service and creating acrylic portraits, he began performing stand-up comedy in 2009.

In 2013, Che joined Saturday Night Live as a writer. He was promoted to cast member in 2014 and became co-anchor of "Weekend Update" with Colin Jost in September of that year. Che made history by becoming the first African American co-anchor of "Weekend Update."
