Michael Corbat, an American banker, was born on May 2, 1960, in Bristol, Connecticut. He graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor's degree in Economics and played American football as an offensive guard for the university team. During his time at Harvard, Corbat was a member of several student fraternities, including "The AD."

Career in Citigroup
Michael Corbat has been the CEO of Citigroup, the world's largest financial conglomerate, since October 2012. In Russia, the corporation is represented by ZAO KB "Citibank," of which Citigroup owns 100% of the shares. Throughout his career, Corbat has worked in Citigroup or its predecessor companies, starting with Salomon Brothers, which was acquired by the financial corporation Travelers Group in 1998. The merger of Travelers Group with the banking giant Citicorp marked the beginning of Citigroup.
Corbat has held various leadership positions within Citigroup, including Head of Global Corporate Bank, Head of Global Commercial Bank, and CEO of Global Wealth Management, which includes Smith Barney and Citi Private Bank. As the CEO of Citi Holdings, Corbat was responsible for the liquidation of assets and non-core businesses following the 2008 financial crisis, as part of Citigroup's participation in the government's Troubled Asset Relief Program.
