Soviet and Ukrainian Metallurgist
Dr. Mykhailo Hnatush(b. 1933) is an accomplished Soviet and Ukrainian metallurgist. He holds a Doctor of Technical Sciences (1969), Professor (1971), and is an Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1990).
Academic Achievements
Dr. Hnatush is a member of the Academy of Engineering Sciences of Ukraine (1994), a Foreign Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2004), the Georgian Academy of Sciences (2005), and an Honorary Member of the Kazakhstan Academy of Sciences (2006).
Education and Career
Dr. Hnatush graduated with honors from the Dnipropetrovsk Metallurgical Institute (1949-1954) in "Metallurgy of Ferrous Metals." He has worked at the Dnipropetrovsk Metallurgical Institute since 1954, holding various positions. In 1973, he became Head of the Department of Electrometallurgy and Dean of the Faculty of Electrometallurgy from 1973-1986.
Recognition and Honors
Dr. Hnatush is a recipient of the State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR (1977) and State Prizes of Ukraine (1998, 2004). He has been awarded the Ukrainian Order of Merit, 3rd Degree (2004) and is a Distinguished Scientist of Ukraine (1999). Additionally, he is an Honorary Citizen of the city of Polohy.
