Biography of Michael Karoli
Early Life and Musical EducationMichael Karoli was born and raised in Straubing, Bavaria. From a young age, he showed a talent for music and received training in guitar, violin, and cello. He actively participated in various jazz and dance orchestras during his childhood.
Formation of Can
In 1966, Karoli met Holger Czukay, who became his teacher for a brief period. Two years later, in 1968, Karoli joined forces with Czukay, Irmin Schmidt, Jaki Liebezeit, and David Johnson to form the influential rock band Can. Karoli played the guitar and also served as a vocalist on their later albums. He remained a permanent member of the group from its inception until its dissolution.
