Early Life and Career

Jimmy Bain was born in Scotland and began his musical journey in local bands. After emigrating with his family to Vancouver, he played with Street Noise.

Rainbow and Harlot

In 1974, Bain returned to London and briefly played with The Babys before joining Harlot. In 1975, Ritchie Blackmore recruited him for Rainbow, where he played on the album "Rising." However, Blackmore dismissed Bain abruptly in 1977.

Post-Rainbow Collaborations

After leaving Rainbow, Bain collaborated with John Cale and Ian Hunter.

Wild Horses and Dio

In the early 1980s, Bain formed Wild Horses with Brian Robertson, Clive Edwards, and Neil Carter. The band released two albums before Robertson's departure. Bain expanded Wild Horses into a quintet, but it soon disbanded. In 1982, Ronnie James Dio invited Bain to join his new project, Dio, where he co-wrote many songs.

World War III and Solo Project

In 1989, Dio disbanded and Bain struggled with alcoholism and drug abuse. In 1989, he formed World War III with vocalist Mandy Lion, releasing a self-titled album before disbanding in 1991. In the mid-1990s, Bain planned to release a solo album titled "Bain," but it remained unfinished.

Later Years and Death

Jimmy Bain passed away on January 23, 2016, from lung cancer and pneumonia.
