Russian Naval Officer
Early CareerBorn in 1857, the future admiral graduated from the Naval Academy in 1877 and was commissioned as a midshipman. Promoted to lieutenant in 1881, he became a first-class torpedo officer in 1891.
Naval Service
Throughout his career, the admiral served in various positions aboard ships and in naval administration. He commanded the cruiser "Africa" and the battleship "Slava," among other vessels. He also served as the chief of staff of the Kronstadt port and as an assistant to the chief of the Main Naval Staff.
Awards and Recognition
Over the course of his service, the admiral received numerous awards, including the Order of St. Stanislav, Order of St. Anna, Order of St. Vladimir, and Order of St. George. He also received silver medals for his contributions to the Imperial Navy.
Senior Officer
In 1911, the admiral was promoted to vice admiral and appointed as the chief of the Main Naval Staff. From 1913 until his retirement in 1917, he served as the chairman of the Dobroflot shipping company.
Post-Retirement
After the October Revolution, the admiral went into exile. He was promoted to the rank of full admiral in 1917 while in retirement. The admiral passed away during his exile, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication to the Russian Navy.
