Jerzy Trela, a renowned Polish actor of both stage and screen, left an indelible mark on the world of performing arts.
Early Life and Education
Trela's artistic journey began as a student of painting and art history. However, his passion for acting eventually led him to pursue studies at the State Higher School of Acting in Krakow, graduating in 1953.
Theatrical Career
Trela's theatrical debut occurred in 1948. After establishing himself in the Polish theatre scene, he performed in several notable institutions, including the Poetry Theatre (1952-1954), the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre (1955-1956), and the New Theatre in Łódź (1957-1963). From 1963 onwards, he became a fixture in Warsaw's prestigious theatres, such as the National Theatre (1963-1966), the Dramatic Theatre (1966-1979), and the "Teatr na Woli" (1979-1981).
Radio and Music
Apart from his theatrical endeavors, Trela was an active participant in the International Song Festival in Sopot. Moreover, he became a renowned voice actor, contributing to the Polish translation of the "Bible of the Millennium" as a reader.
Personal Life and Legacy
Trela was married to actress Barbara Horawianka. His final resting place is at the Warsaw Cemetery in Stare Powązki. His legacy as a talented and versatile actor continues to inspire generations of performers and audiences alike.
