Childhood and Musical Roots

Mikhail Khoma, better known as Dzidzio, was born on April 20, 1983, in the small village of Bortnyky, Ukraine. His early childhood was spent there, but at the age of four, he relocated to Novoyavorivsk with his family.

In 1991, Mikhail enrolled in the Novoyavorivsk School No. 1 and simultaneously began attending a music school in the vocal-choral department. His first vocal teacher, Lesya Nikolayevna Yemelyan, introduced him to the world of classical singing and sparked his future professional aspirations.

As a young boy, Mikhail was known as "Robertino Loretti" due to his frequent performances at music school and town concerts. His first major achievement came in 1995 when he won first prize at the Peter Tchaikovsky Vocal Competition.

Education and Musical Influences

Mikhail's love for classical and pop music inspired him to pursue a professional career in music. After graduating from music school, he enrolled at the Lviv College of Music in 1998, studying conducting under Oksana Ivanovna Maksimovich. In 2004, he transferred to the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts to further his studies in pop vocals.

The Birth of "Dzidzio"

Alongside his studies, Mikhail founded a band called "Druzi" in Lviv, which performed at weddings and private events. In this group, he experimented with humor and storytelling, using the Nadsian dialect and the voice of an "old man." This eventually led to the creation of the Dzidzio monologues.

In 2008, Mikhail recorded a cover of the song "Kalendar" by Andriy Kuzmenko and Oleh Turko. Noticing Mikhail's talent, Kuzmenko suggested they make a cover of "Stari Fotografii." This collaboration marked the birth of the name "Dzidzio," after Mikhail's Polish grandfather.

Rise to Fame

Dzidzio gained wider recognition after appearing on stage at a private event in 2009. Designer Roman Cheriba gifted Mikhail a personalized "Dzidzio" logo, designed in English. The group began a new chapter that year, releasing original songs and short films that resonated with audiences.

In 2013, Dzidzio made history as the first Ukrainian band to sell out the Lviv Arena stadium, drawing a crowd of over 25,000 people.

Film Success

Dzidzio's success extended beyond music into film. In 2016-2017, Mikhail directed and starred in his debut feature film, "Dzidzio Kontrabas." The film shattered Ukrainian box office records and won the "Audience Choice" award at the Golden Dziga Awards.

In 2018, Dzidzio released his second film, "Dzidzio Pervyi Raz," which also won two Golden Dziga Awards for "Audience Sympathy" and "Best Sound."

Later Career and Legacy

In 2019, Mikhail was appointed Ambassador of the Ukrainian National Football Team. He has also been involved in important projects, such as recording a spiritual hymn for Ukraine and performing the national anthem at national events.

Mikhail's dedication to music, humor, and storytelling has made him one of Ukraine's most beloved entertainers. His unique blend of music and comedy has brought joy and laughter to millions and continues to inspire future generations.
