Early Life and Artistic Influences

Konstantin Fedorovich Korovin was born into a family of former serfs in the Saratov Governorate. Raised by his uncle, renowned actor Mikhail V. Lentovsky, Korovin's artistic education began at the Stroganov Art and Industrial School. He developed his artistic sensibilities at S. I. Mamontov's estate in Abramtsevo, where he interacted with leading theater and painting masters.

Career as a Theater Decorator

Korovin's professional career commenced as a decorator for private operas at the "Narodny Dom." His notable contributions included designs for Rubinstein's "The Demon," Arensky's "A Dream on the Volga," Grieg's "Ballet Symphony," and Sevo's "Rogneda." Later, he collaborated with K. A. Korovin on productions at the Bolshoi Theater.

Academic Pursuits and Architectural Projects

Under the guidance of Academician S. Soloviev, Korovin delved into architectural studies. He was involved in restoration projects for the Smolensk Kremlin. During the Russian Revolution, he contributed to the creation of agitational posters and set designs for political productions.

Party Activism and Post-Revolutionary Career

From 1917 onward, Korovin became heavily involved in party work. He met with prominent figures like V. I. Lenin, A. V. Lunacharsky, and A. M. Gorky. Resuming his theatrical work in 1939, he designed productions for the Bolshoi, including Rimsky-Korsakov's "Snow Maiden."
