Cuban Greco-Roman wrestler Mijaín López was born on August 20, 1982, in Pinar del Río. His older brother, Michel López Núñez, inspired him to pursue wrestling.

Olympic Dominance

Mijaín López has made Olympic history by becoming the first and only wrestler in any style to win four Olympic gold medals (2008, 2012, 2016, 2020). He is also a five-time world champion (2005, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2014) and three-time world silver medalist (2006, 2011, 2015).

Pan American Success

López has also dominated the Pan American Games, winning five gold medals (2003, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019). He is the first Cuban wrestler to achieve this feat.
