Mike Doling: A Journey Through Metal and Beyond

Early Years and Kronix

Michael Doling emerged into the music scene as a guitarist for the thrash metal band Kronix in the early 1990s. Despite recording a demo in 1991, Kronix disbanded without releasing a full-length album.

Snot and Tragedy

In 1995, Doling joined forces with vocalist Lynn Strait to form Snot. They released their debut album, "Get Some," in 1997. Tragically, in December 1998, Strait died in a car accident, prompting the remaining band members to disband. The second Snot album, "Straight Up," was posthumously completed with contributions from friends and musicians.

Soulfly and Success

In 1999, Doling joined the renowned metal band Soulfly as a replacement for Logan Mader. He contributed to the album "Primitive" (2000), which achieved gold status. Soulfly's subsequent album, released in 2002, also received gold certification. Doling toured extensively with the band before departing in 2003.

Post-Soulfly Ventures

After leaving Soulfly, Doling formed the band Abloom with former members of the group. They released a debut album in 2004 before disbanding shortly after. Doling then established the hardcore band Invitro in 2006, which has released one album to date.

Tons and a New Beginning

In 2008, Doling reunited with former Snot bandmates to form Tons, a return to the heavy sounds of their past. The band continues to perform and record, carrying on the legacy of Snot and Mike Doling's diverse musical journey.
