Biography of Mike Lewis

British musician Mike Lewis was born on August 17, 1977 in Wales. He initially studied civil engineering for a year before deciding to pursue a career in music. His mother worked as a salesperson, while his father was a manager at a chemical company. From a young age, Mike had a love for rock music, with his father's collection of "Dire Straits" and "Led Zeppelin" albums being his favorites. He attended Hawthorn High School in Pontypridd, where he became friends with future "Lostprophets" vocalist Ian Watkins. Mike's favorite subjects in school were the sciences and history.

Early Career with Lostprophets

Initially, Mike played bass guitar for the band but later switched to rhythm guitar along with Lee Gaze, while Stuart Richardson took over on bass. He recorded five albums with "Lostprophets," including their latest release, "Weapons." In September 2006, Mike married his girlfriend Amber Payne, and they currently reside in Malibu, California. In February 2009, Mike announced on his Facebook page that he and his wife were expecting their first child.

Friendship with Ian Watkins

Mike and Ian met in school and bonded over their shared love of rock music. They listened to bands like "Iron Maiden," "Metallica," 'Faith No More,' and American hardcore bands such as 'Gorilla Biscuits' and 'Sick Of It All.' In 1995, Mike joined Ian Watkins' hardcore band, "Public Disturbance," as a guitarist. They later performed together in "Fleshbin."

Interests and Hobbies

Mike is a dedicated fan of "Star Trek" and even owns a uniform from the iconic series. When he is not touring with the band, he enjoys surfing on the beaches of Santa Monica. While there were rumors that Mike was a vegetarian or vegan, he clarified in a recent interview that he actually enjoys medium-rare steaks.
