Mike Scaccia, an American musician and guitarist, is best known for his work in metal bands such as Ministry and Rigor Mortis. Born Michael Scaccia in 1965 in Babylon, New York, he formed his first band called Spectrum with his school friends. Chuck and Chad Williams played guitar and bass respectively, while Baron Lane served as the vocalist.
In 1983, Scaccia founded the band Rigor Mortis, where he met Harden Harrison and Casey Orr. All three were passionate about heavy music and decided to work in that genre. After five years of performances and rehearsals, the band recorded their first self-titled album on Capitol Records.
In 1989, Scaccia joined Ministry during their tour to support the album "The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste." He was invited by Al Jourgensen and quickly became an integral part of the band. In 1991, Scaccia permanently left Rigor Mortis and collaborated with Ministry on their legendary album "Psalm 69". He left the band in 1996.
In addition to his work on Ministry's main albums, Scaccia also participated in several side projects including Revolting Cocks, Lard, and Buck Satan And The 666 Shooters. His guitar can be heard on Ministry's 2012 album titled "Relapse," marking his final recording.
On December 22, 2012, at the age of 47, Scaccia fell ill during a concert at the Rail Club in Fort Worth, Texas. The concert was held in honor of Rigor Mortis vocalist Bruce Corbitt's 50th birthday. Scaccia was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately passed away. The cause of death was officially announced as a natural heart attack.
"I just lost a brother," said Bruce Corbitt after Scaccia's death. The entire music world was shocked by his sudden passing. At only 47 years old, Scaccia had many plans for the future.
