He further pursued his interest by studying computer science at Stanford University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1997 and master's degree in 1999.

During his time in graduate school, Schroepfer started working with computers, first as a software specialist at Puffin Designs and later as a consultant at Reactivity, Inc. In 2000, shortly after completing his studies, he founded his own company called CenterRun, which focused on software development.
