Early Life and Education

Born on May 3, 1983, in the village of Toki in Western Ukraine, Mykhailo Holovko completed secondary education at School No. 9 in Ternopil in 2000. He then pursued higher education at the Academy of National Economy (now Ternopil National Economic University), graduating in 2005 with a degree in International Economics.

Political Involvement

Holovko's political activism began while a student at the Academy. He actively participated in the "Ukraine without Kuchma" protests and joined the Social-National Party of Ukraine (later renamed All-Ukrainian Union "Svoboda") in 2002. In 2011, he completed a postgraduate degree in Marketing from Ternopil Ivan Puluy National Technical University and earned a diploma in Law from the Kyiv Interregional Academy of Personnel Management in 2012.

Electoral Success

In 2006, Holovko was elected as a member of the Ternopil City Council from Svoboda. He was re-elected in 2010 and became Deputy Chairman of the Ternopil Regional Branch of Svoboda in 2011. In 2012, he ran for parliament from the 164th electoral district, representing Svoboda, and secured a seat in the 7th Verkhovna Rada (parliament of Ukraine) with 45.33% of the votes.

Parliamentary Career

In parliament, Holovko was part of the Svoboda faction and served as Deputy Chairman of the Economic Policy Committee and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Economic Legislation. He played an active role in the 2013 Euromaidan protests. In the 2014 snap parliamentary elections, Holovko was re-elected from the 164th electoral district, receiving 35.64% of the votes. He served on the Tax and Customs Policy Committee until his term expired in 2019.

Post-Parliamentary Life

On November 25, 2020, Holovko was elected Chairman of the Ternopil Regional Council. He is married to Maryana and has three sons: Gordei, Lukyan, and Bohdan.
