Mildred Robbins Leet, an American entrepreneur and philanthropist, is best known as one of the founders and chairperson of the board of directors of the New York non-governmental organization "Trickle Up". This organization has been dedicated to improving the conditions of the poorest populations around the world since its establishment in 1979.

Early Activism and Charitable Work

Mildred Robbins Leet's involvement in entrepreneurship and philanthropy began long before "Trickle Up". In 1948, she played a key role in the creation of the charitable project "United Cerebral Palsy" and became the first president of its women's division. From 1957 to 1964, Leet represented the National Council of Women of the USA as a delegate to the United Nations (UN). During her tenure as the head of the organization from 1964 to 1968, Leet focused on civil rights and advocating for peace on an international level. She organized the first Women's Conference at the governmental level during this period.

International Contributions

From 1968 to 1970, Leet served as Vice President of the International Council of Women and later became one of the key members of the Women's Advisory Committee on Poverty. She also worked on the development of the International Peace Academy from 1968 to 1974. In 1978, Leet established the International Task Force of Women, which actively participated in the preparation of the Conference on Science and Technology for Development held under the auspices of the UN in 1979. Award for achievements in entrepreneurship and the Joseph C. Wilson Award from the Rochester Association for the United Nations for promoting peace and international understanding through contributions to international relations and problem-solving. In 1995, "InterAction", a group that brings together 168 American non-profit organizations for international development, established the Mildred Robbins Leet Award in her honor.
