Early Career in Australia

Born and raised in Sydney, Michael John Jedinak began his professional football career with local club Sydney United in 2003. He spent five seasons with the team, including a brief loan spell at Croatian club Varteks in 2005. In 2006, Jedinak joined A-League club Central Coast Mariners, where he won the Australian championship in 2007/08.

Move to Europe

Seeking a new challenge, Jedinak left Australia in 2009 to join Turkish club Gençlerbirligi. After two seasons, he spent a year on loan at Antalyaspor before parting ways with Gençlerbirligi in 2011. A month later, he signed a contract with Crystal Palace.

Captaincy and Promotion to the Premier League

Jedinak quickly became a fan favorite at Crystal Palace, earning the captain's armband during the 2011/12 season when captain Paddy McCarthy was injured for much of the campaign. Under managers Dougie Freedman and Ian Holloway, Jedinak led the club to promotion to the Premier League in 2013.

Move to Aston Villa

In August 2016, Jedinak joined Aston Villa for a transfer fee of 4.6 million euros, ending his five-year stint with Crystal Palace.

International Career

Jedinak made his international debut for Australia in 2008 and has since become a key player for the Socceroos. He was part of the team that participated in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and scored Australia's only goal in the 2011 AFC Asian Cup Final. In the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, Jedinak scored against the Netherlands.

Jedinak's most memorable international performance came in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoffs against Honduras. He scored a hat-trick in the decisive second leg, helping Australia secure their spot at the tournament.
