Biography of Mili Avital

Mili Avital is an actress who was born in Jerusalem and grew up in the town of Raanana, near Tel Aviv. At the age of 15, she started performing at the Cameri Theater of Tel Aviv. In 1991, she received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film "Me'ever Layam" (Over the Ocean), and later was nominated for Best Actress in "Groupie."

Despite her recognition in her home country, she decided to move to New York. In Israel, everyone believed that her career as a star was guaranteed after her success in "Stargate," but her accent became a hindrance. Only a few roles were suitable for foreign actresses, so Mili diligently worked on speaking like an American. Her efforts paid off.
