PlayerMiloš Žigra is a former Czechoslovak ice hockey player who was born on February 28, 1960. He played as a forward for several clubs during his career. Žigra started his professional career with the club "Pšerov" from 1975 to 1978. He then played for "Dukla" (Jihlava) from 1978 to 1980 and "Vítkovice" (TJ Vítkovice) from 1980 to 1983. He had a short stint with "Zlín" (TJ Gottwaldov) from 1984 to 1986 before returning to "Vítkovice" for another season in 1986-1987. Žigra then played for "Brno" ("Zetor" Brno) from 1987 to 1988 and ended his playing career with HC "Godoňin" from 1988 to 1990.
During his time in the top division of the Czechoslovak championship, Žigra played for nine seasons, appearing in 262 games and scoring 67 goals.
Coach
After retiring as a player, Miloš Žigra turned his attention to coaching. He started his coaching career with HC "Godoňin" from 1990 to 1992. He then worked as an assistant coach for "Zlín" from 1992 to 1993. Žigra went on to coach HC "Pšerov" from 1993 to 1995 and "Pardubice" from 1995 to 1998. He had another stint with "Pardubice" from 2001 to 2003 and 2006 to 2007.
Žigra also had coaching experiences with "Karlový Vary" from 1998 to 2000, "Sparta" in 2000, "Slovan" from 2000 to 2001, and "Chimik" from 2005 to 2006. However, his most notable coaching role came in December 2007 when he was appointed as the head coach of "Spartak" Moscow.
Achievements
As a player, Miloš Žigra achieved the title of Champion of Czechoslovakia in 1981. As a coach, he led his team to win the Championship of Slovakia in 2000 and 2001.
In addition to his successful playing and coaching careers, Žigra was also selected by the NHL team, the "Minnesota North Stars," in the 10th round of the 1983 NHL Draft as the 196th overall pick.
