Miran Maričić rose to prominence as a Croatian sporting shooter, representing his nation on the world stage and etching his name in the annals of Croatian sports.
Early Career and Breakthrough
Born on June 17, 1997, in Bjelovar, Croatia, Maričić's passion for shooting ignited at SD Bjelovar 1874 under the mentorship of Damir Bošnjak. In 2017, he achieved a significant milestone by claiming gold at the Junior World Shooting Championships in Suhl, Germany.
International Success
His breakthrough on the international circuit came in 2018 when he secured a bronze medal in the 10m air rifle event at the World Championships in Changwon, South Korea, earning Croatia a quota place for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Olympic Debut and Accolades
At the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Maričić competed in two events. While he narrowly missed the qualification round in the 10m air rifle, he advanced to the final in the 50m rifle three positions event and finished an impressive sixth.
In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Maričić received the coveted Dražen Petrović Award in 2017 for his contributions to youth sports. He was also honored as the Best Sportsman of his hometown, Bjelovar, three consecutive times from 2017 to 2019.
