Miriam Rivera is a highly acclaimed lawyer and currently serves as the Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of a leading corporation. She has been recognized by Lawdragon magazine as one of the top 500 lawyers in America.

Leadership and Expertise


Miriam leads teams of lawyers specializing in corporate, commercial, international, and technical operations. She has previously held the position of Chief Counsel for Commercial and Strategic Alliances for the company, where she played a vital role in establishing strategic partnerships with Google, AOL, AOL Europe, Yahoo!, and Yahoo Japan. Over the years, Miriam has successfully negotiated thousands of profitable and strategic alliances.

Before joining Google, Miriam served as an in-house counsel for Ariba Inc. in Sunnyvale, California. Prior to that, she co-founded a venture capital company called On Your Mind, which focused on software development and was later renamed as Outcome Software. Miriam has also worked as a strategic consultant at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) and as a business and technology partner at the law firm Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison.

Recognition and Achievements


Miriam's outstanding legal expertise and leadership have gained her numerous accolades. In April 2005, Corporate Counsel magazine named her one of the top 10 corporate counsels with the highest chances of becoming General Counsels in Fortune 500 companies within the next five years. Later that year, Lawdragon magazine included her in their list of the top 500 lawyers in America.

Philanthropy and Community Involvement


In her free time, Miriam is actively involved in supporting charitable and community organizations. She is a strong advocate for A Better Chance, an organization that supports minority students in high schools, as well as La Casa de las Madres, the oldest and largest organization dedicated to supporting women who have experienced domestic violence. Miriam is also an active member of the First Congregational Church in Palo Alto.

Currently, Miriam serves as the Secretary of the Board of the Google Foundation.

Education


Miriam Rivera holds a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and a Master's degree in Spanish Language (Caribbean Literature) from Stanford University. She also holds a Master's in Business Administration from the Stanford Law School and Stanford Graduate School of Business.
