Early Life and Start in Taekwondo
Mohebah Nematzadeh was born on May 17, 2005, in Iran. Inspired by her father, Abbas Nematzadeh, a former member of the national bodybuilding team, she began practicing taekwondo at the age of six. Within a year, she showed her exceptional talent by competing against adults and winning the national championship.
National and International Recognition
In 2017, Nematzadeh emerged on the international stage, winning the gold medal at the World Junior Taekwondo Championships in Vietnam. Her success continued, with gold medals at the Asian Junior Taekwondo Championships in Jordan (2019) and the World Junior Championships in Uzbekistan (2019), making her the most decorated junior taekwondo athlete in the world.
Rise to the Top
In 2022, Nematzadeh's achievements accelerated. She won gold at the Youth Asian Championships in Vietnam and the Youth World Championships in Bulgaria. Additionally, she secured silver and gold medals at the Asian Championships in South Korea and the Asian Club Championships in Tehran, respectively.
Olympic Medalist
At the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, Nematzadeh represented Iran in the 49 kg weight category. She showcased her determination and skill, ultimately earning a bronze medal in a thrilling third-place match against Dunya Abutabelas of Saudi Arabia. This historic achievement marked only the second Olympic medal won by an Iranian woman in history.
