Early Career

In 2007, Mahmoud competed in the Junior World Championships and finished in 5th place. He continued to improve his performance, securing 2nd place in 2008 and 4th place in 2009. That same year, he also participated in the African Championships among juniors and adults, winning in the 62kg weight category.

Championship Success

In 2009, Mahmoud represented Egypt in the World Championships in Goyang, South Korea, where he achieved the 12th result, lifting a total of 280kg. He also competed in the Summer Universiade held in Shenzhen, China in 2011, where he finished in 4th place.

In 2014, Mahmoud had a breakthrough performance at the World Championships, lifting a total of 334kg (152kg snatch, 182kg clean and jerk) in the 69kg weight category. He won the silver medal, finishing behind Liao Hui of China.
