Molly Parker was born on July 17, 1972, in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada. She grew up in a commune in Pitt Meadows, where she first performed on stage at the local theater. Beginning at age three, she studied dance and later transitioned to acting.

Parker's acting career began with television roles, including "Serving in Silence" and "Paris or Somewhere" for which she won a Gemini Award. She gained popularity in the 1990s through appearances in "Twitch City," "Six Feet Under," "The Five Senses," and "Wonderland."
