Biography of Morgan Cipres
Morgan Cipres is a French figure skater who competes in pairs skating. He was born in Melun, France in 1991. From a young age, he began practicing figure skating and achieved positive results in men's singles skating. In 2010, he represented France at the Junior World Championships.
Pair Skating with Vanessa James
In the same year, the French pair Vanessa James and Yannick Bonheur ended their partnership, and Vanessa was in search of a new partner. After an extensive search, she proposed to Morgan Cipres. They started competing together in 2011 and immediately became vice-champions at the national championship. They soon became the leading pair in France in both domestic and international competitions. They also had the opportunity to compete at the Olympic Games in Sochi.
International Success
In the post-Olympic season, the pair achieved their first medals at major international competitions, winning bronze at the Winter Universiade in Spain. They started the new season with bronze medals at the Nebelhorn Trophy in Germany. However, their performance at the Trophée Bompard Grand Prix was canceled due to safety concerns following a series of terrorist attacks in Paris. They finished in sixth place at the final Grand Prix stage in Nagano. At the European Championships in Bratislava, they improved their previous results and secured their position, achieving their best scores in both the short and free programs. In March, they participated in the Cup of Tyrol in Innsbruck, where they placed second. In April, at the World Championships in Boston, the French pair broke into the top ten, improving their previous scores in the short program.
Pre-Olympic Season
The new pre-Olympic season started with a second-place finish at the Autumn Classic International in Montreal, where they surpassed all their previous achievements. In mid-October, they competed at the Grand Prix stage in Chicago, finishing in the middle of the table at the Cup of America and further improving their scores in the short program. In mid-November, they competed at the home Grand Prix stage in Paris, finishing in third place at the Trophée de France and surpassing their previous achievements in the short program. In mid-December, they confidently won gold at the French Championships in Cannes. In late January, they participated in the European Championships in Ostrava, winning their first bronze medal and improving all their previous achievements. In late March, they appeared at the World Championships in Helsinki, ranking among the top eight pairs in the world and securing two spots for their country at the Olympic Games. Three weeks later, they represented their country at the World Team Trophy, performing exceptionally well and earning the maximum number of points for their team, surpassing all their previous achievements.
Olympic Season
The new Olympic season began with a strong performance at the Autumn Classic International in Montreal, where they finished in first place. A month later, they won bronze medals at the Canadian Grand Prix stage. In mid-November, they competed at the home Grand Prix stage in France, winning silver medals. However, a few days before the national championship, Vanessa suffered an injury, and the pair had to miss the competition.
